THE SOUL'S JOURNEY
The first time we look
into the mirror of truth,
our reflection looks back
and there is no recognition
of ourselves. It is frightening.
All of us live this at one time or another
and in the course of the journey
we experience that tormenting dark place
where we judge the “Self” the one we accuse
of being peculiar or not like others,
and of a different breed.
So we consign it to the grave.
The essence of our being
that we denied because it felt
out of place and uncomfortable
for us in “this world”.
Eventually our unique light,
longs to be Unearthed,
discovered and revealed.
A stranger's reflection peers back,
disappointment sets in.
We now understand the full impact
of the loss, and our exposed vulnerability.
As we begin the pursuit we wonder,
if found, will it ever shine
as brightly as before?
Walking among the foggy abaddon,
the dark night of the soul,
we find our inner most fears,
there we conquer
and recover our pearl of a great price,
the treasure of all treasures.
With it conformity gives way
to authenticity, and we have learned that
It is easier to live naked than to live without
our clothing. And so we celebrate the
soul’s journey.
